Box Score GOODWELL, Okla. – Texas A&M International University soared to its second consecutive Heartland Conference victory on Thursday, downing Oklahoma Panhandle State, 3-0 (25-20, 25-9, 25-13). The Dustdevils (4-17, 3-10 Heartland) remain mathematically alive for the fourth and final postseason position for the Heartland Conference tournament.
"It was a well-rounded performance from the entire team," TAMIU coach Marlon Sano said. "It was a true team effort from start to finish that I am proud of."
Tasmin Apple hammered OPSU for 11 kills and three blocks to finish with 13.5 points. Alex Ciszek notched 13 points off 11 kills with an ace and a block. Sophia Quinones converted from a naturally defensive position into an attacking force, claiming five kills for five points. Lizzie Prieto also knocked five points off four kills and two blocks. "(Apple) really elevated her game," Sano said. "(Prieto) really set well and (Ciszek)was a force. (Quinones) was played out of position and she hit very well. Sarah, who took Sophia's place as libero, didn't miss a beat and played well."
The Dustdevils next will visit Newman on Nov. 1 before hosting Arkansas-Fort Smith on Nov. 6 and Dallas Baptist on Nov. 8.
