LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International University closed the curtain on the 2014 season by pushing Dallas Baptist to four sets on Saturday at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building. The Dustdevils (5-20, 3-13 Heartland Conference) fell, 3-1 (16-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-20), to the visiting Patriots.
It was a junior that led the way on Senior Day, as Miaje Hubbard collected 19.5 points off 19 kills and a block. Senior Alex Ciszek had 12.5 points off 11 kills, an ace and a block. She finishes her career as TAMIU's all-time kills leader with 1,067.
Freshman Caitlinn Williams had eight kills with a block for 8.5 points, Samantha Gonzalez had six kills and five blocks for nine points, Lizzie Prieto had five kills and a block for six points, senior Sophia Quinones had five kills and a block for 5.5 points. Koral Wright finished with one kill for a point.
Prieto set up 44 of the Dustdevils' 50 assists with Quinones contributing two and Ciszek, Williams and Alejandra Bustamante each adding one.
Bustamante dug 16 balls on defense while Ciszek and Quinones each had 14. Prieto had 12, Wright had 10 and both Hubbard and Williams each had four.
With the conclusion of the season, the Dustdevils see both Ciszek and Quinones end their careers.
