Box Score ABILENE, Texas – Tied atop the Heartland Conference with just one last game to play, Texas A&M International kept its pace for at least a share of the regular season championship on Saturday, defeating McMurry 83-79. The University of Arkansas-Fort Smith (20-5, 13-4 Heartland) also won to remain in a tie for first on Saturday.
One last game for each team will decide who will wear the conference crown and host the postseason tournament – to be played by the league's top four finishers. Traditionally, the regular season champion hosts the tournament, but in the case of a tie for first place, both teams would be crowned co-champions and a series of tie-breakers would determine which school hosts.
UAFS closes its season at home against Rogers State (15-9, 10-6 Heartland), while TAMIU (20-7, 13-4 Heartland) visits third-place St. Mary's (17-7, 10-6 Heartland) on March 1.
