SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Texas A&M International completed a doubledip of hardwood action on Saturday in San Antonio, starting with a Heartland Conference meeting with the day's host, St. Mary's. Immediately following the conference collision, the Dustdevils faced Southern Arkansas in a non-conference, neutral-site showdown.
TAMIU (0-9, 0-4 Heartland) fell in both matches, 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-15) to the Rattlers and 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-19) to SAU, at the St. Mary's Round Robin.
The Dustdevils next return home to the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building for three consecutive matches against Texas A&M-Kingsville, Newman and Oklahoma Panhandle State on Sept. 23, 25 and 27 – respectively.
St. MARY'S 3, TAMIU 0
The Dustdevils were led offensively by senior stalwart Alex Ciszek, who completed nine kills off 30 total attacks. She defended as well with 10 digs – just behind senior defensive specialist Sophia Quinones' 17. Ciszek scored 9.5 points to lead TAMIU.
Miaje Hubbard wasn't far behind with 8.5 points with seven kills. Tasmin Apple killed off five points while both Samantha Gonzalez and Lizzie Prieto contributed two kills apiece.
Prieto transitioned the Dustdevils from defense to offense with 15 of the team's 24 total assists.
SAU 3, TAMIU 0
Against SAU, TAMIU was again led by Ciszek's slamming of nine kills for 9.5 points. Hubbard was again second with 6.5 points off six kills. Prieto killed two for five points and Gonzalez killed a pair for four points.
Both Apple and Caitlinn Williams contributed 2.5 points while Quinones had two and Alejandra Bustamante contributed a point.
Quinones contributed 10 of the team's 28 total digs and Prieto again led the transition with 13 of the team's 23 assists.
