WICHITA FALLS, Texas (November 11, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team opened play in the 2016-17 season on Friday. TAMIU was dealt a 42-59 loss to Texas Woman's University.
TAMIU opened play in the Ashbrook Classic hosted by Midwestern State University on Friday. Senior
Hannah Beede led the Dustdevils, dropping 12 points, coupled with 13 rebounds.
The Dustdevils used a strong second half to cut into a 21 point Pioneer lead.
Joanna Perez led the way in the final two quarters of play, picking up 11 points and a steal. The Dustdevils put up 16 points in the third quarter and 10 in the fourth. TAMIU would outscore the Pioneers 26-22 in the final 20 minutes of play.
Rosebrooke Hunt led the Dustdevils offensive charge in the first half, picking up eight points, grabbing six rebounds. Beede picked up five points and five boards through the first 20 minutes.
Hunt finished the night with 14 points and eight rebounds. Perez ended her night with 13 points on three shots behind the arc.

Jeff Caha commented after the game, "Really disappointed in our effort tonight. We had great opportunity with TWU mimssing some key players and decided to not take advantage. The Beauty of it is, we get another opportunity tomorrow against a very good Midwestern State team."
TAMIU scored 24 points inside the painted area and created 15 points off of Pioneer turnovers.
The Ashbrook Classic continues Saturday. The Dustdevils will take on host, Midwestern State. Tip-off is set for 8pm CST.
