LAREDO, Texas (December 10, 2016) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team hosted Texas A&M Kingsville on Saturday. The Dustdevils were dealt a 55-85 loss, moving to 0-9 on the season.
After scoring 33 points in the first half, TAMIU was held to just 22 in the final 20 minutes. TAMUK would take an early lead in the first, never allowing TAMIU to tie or take back the lead.
Joanna Perez led the Dustdevils with a career high 22 points. Perez powered TAMIU in the first half, putting up 14 points. Perez would add five assists and a rebound, in addition to shooting 86% from the stripe.
Hannah Beede continued her strong start to the 2016-17 season, putting up 16 points. Beede put up eight points in each half, adding eight rebounds, two blocks, and an assist.
Beede and Perez would combine for 38 points in the game. Perez and Beede each finsihed with four three-point shots, combining for eight of TAMIU's 10 from behind the arc.
Unique Finley added seven points, making five of seven free throws.
Saturday's game marked the final game before Heartland Conference action begins. The Dustdevils host the University of Arkansas Fort Smith on Saturday, December 17. Tip-off is set for 1pm CST.
