Third quarter dooms Dustdevils in loss to Northern State

ABERDEEN, South Dakota (November 13, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball concluded a three-game span of games outside the state of Texas on Monday night. The Dustdevils took on Northern State where they fell 53-94. TAMIU moves to 0-3 on the season. 

AFTER 1: TAMIU 10 - NORTHERN STATE 25
TAMIU entered hostile ground in Aberdeen as Northern State Women's Basketball has been the NCAA's National Attendance leader for 10 straight season. The Wolves would start the game with an offensive push that accounted for 25 points. The NSU defense held the Dustdevils to just 10 points, opening a 15 point lead after 10 minutes of play. 

AFTER 2: TAMIU 29 - NORTHERN STATE 38
The Dustdevils would close the 15 point gap in the second, outscoring the Wolves 19-13. The second quarter would serve as TAMIU's second highest scoring output in the game. The Dustdevil defense would pick up their best defensive quarter, allowing 13 points.

AFTER 3: TAMIU 32 - NORTHERN STATE 65
Following the halftime intermission, NSU would explode for 28 points while holding the Dustdevils to just three points in 10 minutes. The 24 point difference allowed the Wolves to open a 33 point lead on the Dustdevils. 

AFTER 4: TAMIU 53 - NORTHERN STATE 94
TAMIU would be unable to control the Wolves offense in the fourth quarter as NSU picked up 29 points in the final 10 minutes of play. Despite allowing 29 points, the Dustdevils would record their highest offensive output of the night, putting up 21 points in the final 10 minutes of play. 

FINAL STATS:
Tantashea Giger would lead the Dustdevils in scoring for the third straight night, picking up 15 points in the loss. Giger went 3-6 from the line and made a pair of three-point buckets. Passionate Amukamara recorded her best scoring night of the young season, putting up 14 points while shooting 55% from the field. Amukamara went 3-4 at the free throw line.

The Dustdevils return to Texas for their next game as they take on Division I North Texas on Tuesday night. Tuesday's game will serve as the Dustdevils only exhibition game of the season in two games against Division I opponents.
