WICHITA FALLS, Texas (November 3, 2017) – Rodrigo Zuniga equalized in the second half but a late penalty was too much to overcome as the Texas A&M International University men's soccer team fell 2-1 to No. 3 Midwestern State in the Heartland Conference Semifinals on Friday night at Stang Park. The Dustdevils finish the season at 10-5-3 while MSU improved to 17-0-2.

R. Zuniga had three of the Dustdevils seven shots with
Michael Iskander chipping in two of his own.
Carlos Herrera (9-3-3) made two saves while facing 11 shots.

Shots were at a premium in the first half with MSU holding a 4-2 advantage but that didn't stop Herrera from making an amazing save on the 27
th minute. The San Leandro, Calif. native was in the right spot at the right time to punch away MSU's Scott Doney's header from point blank range.

The second half was a much more offensive affair as the Mustangs struck first courtesy of a header from Laurence Chamberlain in the 51
st minute before the Dustdevils equalized in the 69
th on a goal from R. Zuniga off a deflection from Iskander's shot from just outside the box.

MSU retook the lead on a penalty kick from Patrick Fitzgerald at 81:24 just minutes after TAMIU went down to 10 men. The Dustdevils had one final chance to tie the match for a second time but Iskander's free kick in the 89
th minutes wasn't on target.Â
