ABOUT TAMIU
The Dustdevis are looking to cap off a perfect weekend of basketball after going 2-0 at the Courtyard Marriot Classic. They outscored Paul Quinn College and Arlington Baptist 189-93 including holding ABU to a school-record 36 points on Friday evening. Head coach
Bryan Weakley has his team playing some of their best defense of the season holing teams to 64.0 points per game on 42.9% shooting from the field.
Xabier Gomez (13.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg) earned all-tournament honors for the Dustdevils after scoring 36 points, including a career-high 19 against ABU, while pulling down seven rebounds. He also found his touch from 3-point range making 6-of-10 from downtown. Dan Milota (12.7 pgg, 3.6 apg) also earned all-tournament honors after scoring in double-digits in both wins. The senior has now scored 10 or more points in seven games this season.
Jeremy Wright (12.3 ppg, 5.0 apg) and Danny Spinuzza (4.0 ppg, 3.2 apg) have started in the backcourt in the past two games for the Dustdevils and the results have been impressive. Although Wright was held to two points on 1-of-4 shooting on Friday night, he found a way to get his teammates involved with six assists. Spinuzza has been equally impressive getting his teammates involved including a 10 assist, nine-point performance against PQC on Thursday.
Kamari Robinson (10.0 ppg 5.2 rpg) has started four games this season but has done his best work off the bench for the Dustdevils. Stanley Perrin (2.9 ppg), Marek Hajek (3.1 ppg) and Shea Garland (4.6 ppg) all reached double figures in scoring during the two-day tournament including a 17-point outburst by Perrin against ABU.

Located in Keene, Texas, with an enrollment of 801 students, Southwestern Adventist is 5-11 on the season. The Lions enter Sunday's game against the Dustdevils on a three-game losing streak.
The Lions average 65.9 points per game shooting 43.8% from the field and 38.9% from three. Travis Gagau (25.7 ppg, 5.0 apg) is the top offensive option for SWAU as the sophomore is shooting nearly 60% from the field and 45% from 3-point range. Earlier in the season, he scored 47 points against Rhema Bible College followed by a 34-point effort in their last game against El Centro College. Sitivi Fehoko (11.5 ppg, 8.9 rpg) is the top post player for the Tigers averaging close to a double-double 15 games into the season.

Sunday's meeting will be the eighth meeting between the two programs… The Dustdevils lead the all-time series 7-0 with a 46-point average margin of victory… TAMIU won the first meeting 137-67 on Dec. 7, 2013 at the TAMIU KCB… The Dustdevils are 31-14 all-time against schools from the Sooner Athletic Conference.

THIS DAY IN DUSTDEVIL MEN'S BASKETBALL HISTORY…
The Dustdevils are 4-0 on games played on Dec. 3… TAMIU defeated Huston-Tillotson 73-56 last year with all-conference performer Bunja Yaboe scoring a game-high 18 points, six rebounds and six blocks.
GOMEZ, MILOTA NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Xabier Gomez and Dan Milota were two of five players selected to the 2017 Courtyard Marriot Classic All-Tournament team. Gomez led all scorers in the tournament with 36 points while adding seven rebounds, six assists and three steals. Milota had 27 points of his own with six assists, five rebounds and three steals. St. Mary's Freddie Williams, Arlington Baptist's Kel Wallace and Paul Quinn's Spencer McElway.
