LAREDO, Texas (September 18, 2017) – Former Texas A&M International University men's basketball player
Kenny Hatch has signed a professional contract with Gijon Basket 2015Â of the Liga EBA in Spain. He was a member of the Dustdevil men's basketball program that won the Heartland Conference Regular Season Championship in 2016-17.
"Kenny is one of the toughest players I've coached," said TAMIU men's basketball coach
Bryan Weakley. "He cares a ton and never lets anyone say he can't do anything. He spent more time in the gym getting better than anyone we've coached in recent years. He represented our program on and off the court tremendously. We can't be more proud of this moment for him."
Gijon Basket 2015Â is in its second season in the Liga EBA, the fourth tier of Spanish basketball, after finishing the 2015-16 season as champion of the Asturian group of Primera Division. Gijon is a large coastal city in northern Spain and is known for its maritime heritage.
Hatch had an impressive two year career for the Dustdevils from 2015-17 where the San Francisco, Calif. native played in 59 games averaging 7.1 points per game. As a senior in 2017, Hatch helped lead the Dustdevils to a 20-10 record as he went 72-of-187 (3.85%) form the field including 26-of-80 (32.5%) from three and 93-of-120 (77.5%) from the charity stripe as he averaged 8.8 points per game.
