Dustdevils Win Thanks To DBU Own Goal
FORT WORTH, Texas - Texas A&M International (5-6-2, 4-5-1 HC) managed to take down Dallas Baptist (3-10-1, 1-9 HC) on Sunday 1-0 thanks to an own goal from the Patriots.
In what was a physical and heavy defensive bout through out the game, each team had multiple opportunities to score, but could not find the back of the net. In fact, the Dustdevils outshot DBU 13-7, with five shots on goal compared to four. Both keepers earned four saves.
The match's only goal came early in the second half, as DBU managed to score an own goal in the 51st minute, giving TAMIU a 1-0 lead. The Patriots had opportunities to tie things with two corner kicks, but couldn't capitalize on them.Â
Late in the half, DBU had more opportunities, but Carlos Herrera saved three shots to earn a clean sheet in the win.
The Dustdevils will return home for the final homestand of the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 18 as they play host to Lubbock Christian at 7 p.m. Â
