DALLAS -Â Texas A&M International (5-21, 3-9 HC) fell to Dallas Baptist (12-17) in a three-set sweep (18-25, 16-25, 15-25) to close out the regular season.
The Patriots got things started with a 4-1 run to open the first set. However, the Dustdevils battled back to tie things up at 8-8. That would be as close as they got, as DBU took control with a 7-2 run to go up 24-17. They took the set 25-18.
TAMIU looked to have shaken off the first set as they opened the next one with an early 3-1 lead. However, that lead was short lived as DBU retook the lead 5-3, but the Dustdevils counterpunched to tie things again at 6-6 and then 7-7. The Patriots took control again with a 7-0 run to take a 14-7 lead. They closed out the frame on a 7-3 run to take the 25-16 decision.
The third set began as the closest of the match, with both teams trading points early. Once again, DBU came out on top with a 11-6 lead. The Patriots controlled things the rest of the way as they finished the match on a 6-1 run, taking a 25-15 decision.
