Dustdevils Suffer First Loss of the Season to Ouachita

MCKINNEY, Texas - Texas A&M International (1-1) suffered its first loss of the season 3-1 to Ouachita on Sunday.

The match was an offensive showcase for both sides. TAMIU outshot Ouachita with 17 shot, six on goal, compared to 15 shots, eight on goal. 

The Dustdevils attempted to draw first blood as junior Susanna Abrahamsson fire a shot in the first two minutes of the match, but had it saved by the Tiger keeper Erin Webster. 

Ouachita broke the seal 1-0 with its first of three goals in the first half as Jamie Fowler found the back of the net on pass from Ashlyn Heckman in the fourth minute. Bryson Thomas extended the lead to 2-0 on a pass from Simone Norvell. Heckman scored the third goal of the half as she stole the ball from a defender and lobbed a shot over TAMIU keeper Aubrey Hall. 

The Dustdevils had their opportunities to score in the half but had four total shots saved.

In the second half, TAMIU got on the board and scored their only goal as junior Cio Bargallo fired a shot into the back of the net in the 60th minute to cut the lead to 3-1. 

The Dustdevils are back in action on Thursday, Sept. 13 as they begin Heartland Conference play on the road at Dallas Baptist.
