Dustdevils Fall To Oklahoma Christian On The Road

OKLAHOMA CITY - Texas A&M International men's basketball (2-4, 0-2 LSC) fell 65-57 to Oklahoma Christian (2-3, 1-1 LSC) on Saturday.

Junior Matija Novkovic led the Dustdevils with 15 points as well as five rebounds, two assists and a steal. Senior Dominic Jackson logged 11 points with seven rebounds and a steal. Junior Ryan Birt posted 11 points as well with six assists, three rebounds and a steal. Senior Caleb Highley contributed 10 points and six rebounds.

The first half was close early as both teams kept the score within two possessions midway though the period. The Eagles tried to break away going up 20-12 with 9:35 left in the half. However, TAMIU rattled off a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 20-19 with 7:19 left. OC answered by jumping back out to a 29-22 lead, and eventually took a 34-28 lead into the intermission.

The Eagles came out of the break on fire as they dashed out to their largest lead of the game at 44-32, just over four minutes into the period. The Dustdevils again kept grinding and were able to make it a game pulling within 48-46 with 10 minutes left. Unfortunately, OC was just as resilient and pushed back out to a 65-54 lead left with just under a minute left. They eventually took the 65-57 victory.

TAMIU will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 29 as they travel to San Bernardino, Calif. and face off against Cal State San Bernardino in the CSUSB Thanksgiving Classic.
