LUBBOCK, Texas –  Texas A&M International University women's basketball (0-20, 0-8 Heartland Conference) dropped a 88-19 road decision to the Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals (19-4, 9-0 Heartland Conference) on Saturday afternoon. The Dustdevils have not defeated the Lady Chaps since February 28, 2015.
The Lady Chaps jumped out to early 15-0 lead but the Dustdevils responded by putting together a 5-2 run that featured a jump shot by Alliyah Bryant and was capped off by a three-pointer by Kendall Alsup cut the deficit to a dozen (17-5) with 4:59 showing on the first quarter clock. At the end of the opening quarter, the Lady Chaps held a 23-point advantage (30-7).
In the second quarter, Bryant knocked down a shot from long distance to make the score 37-10 in favor of the Lady Chaps with 4:35 remaining in the opening half. Â
Lubbock Christian would take a 46-10 lead heading into intermission.
In the second half, TAMIU was outscored 42-9 as the Lady Chaps went on to win by a total of 69 points.
Alsup finished the day with team highs of six points and seven rebounds for TAMIU.
Lubbock Christian had a dozen players that recorded at least three points. Allie Schulte scored a game-high 17 points for the Lady Chaps while shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, including four three-pointers.
In the end, Texas A&M International shot 12.5 percent (6-of-48) from the field, 27.8 percent (5-of-18) from three-point range and 50 percent (2-of-4) from the free-throw line while the Lady Chaps shot  52.3 percent (34-of-65) from the floor, 37.5 percent (9-of-24) from beyond the arc and 64.7 percent (11-of-17) from the charity stripe. Lubbock Christian held the advantage in rebounds (46-19), steals (14-7), assists (22-2) and blocks (7-4).
The Dustdevils return home for a Heartland Conference showdown on Thursday, February 14 for a matchup against Oklahoma Christian University (11-11, 4-5 Heartland Conference) at 5:30 p.m.
