LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball will continue their season opening road trip this weekend as they travel to Durango, Colo. to compete in the Skyhawks Volleyball Tournament.

The Dustdevils opened the 2019 season last week at the Dr. Steve Aicinena Invitational, going 1-2 in three matches. The lone win came against the University of the Southwest in a 3-0 sweep. TAMIU currently sits in fifth in the Lone Star Conference in blocks with an average of 2.00 per set (20.0 total) and digs with 15.50 per set (155 total). Mackenzie Catalina leads the Dustdevils with an average of 2.70 kills per set and also 3.90 digs defensively.
LSC foe West Texas A&M started their season off strong with three wins as they hosted the Britkare Lady Buff Classic. They currently lead the LSC in opponent hitting percentage (.023) and are second in hitting percentage (.277). Freshman Torrey Miller currently leads the Lady Buffs and the conference in kills, averaging 4.55 per set (50 total).
Tournament host Fort Lewis comes into the weekend 2-3 after last week's showing at the Kathleen Brasfield ASU Invitational, picking up wins against Southeastern Oklahoma State in a five-set thriller and Northwestern Oklahoma State 3-1. Senior Bailey Longacre leads the Skyhawks with an average of 2.75 kills per set, while Freshman Kamryn Lopez leads the squad defensively with an average of 4.47 digs per set.
Adams State began their season 1-3 at the Loper Pre-Season Invite with a 3-0 win over Findlay. Offensively, the Grizzlies are led by senior Hannah Goddard who averages 3.00 kills per set and 7.00 digs per set on defense.
LSC foe Western New Mexico split their four matches in the CSU-San Marcos Tournament to begin the season, with a five-set win over Saint Martin's and a 3-0 sweep of Bentley. Senior Erin Moss leads the Mustangs and is third in the LSC with 3.83 kills per set. Junior Adriana Leon holds down the defense with 5.67 digs per set.
