LAREDO, Texas -Â Texas A&M International men's basketball (3-25, 1-21 LSC) fell 74-55 to DBU (20-8, 14-8 LSC) in the season finale on Saturday.
Both seniors Caleb Highley and Dominic Jackson led the Dustdevils with 12 points apiece in final their games in the maroon and silver. Highley added a career-high 16 rebounds and two blocks, while Jackson added six rebounds.Â
The early goings in the game were tight as neither team could gain more than a two possession lead. DBU came out on top and went up by their largest lead of the half at 25-16 with 7:14 left in the period. TAMIU battled all the way back with a 10-0 run to retake the lead 26-25. The Patriots responded with a 6-0 run to take a 31-26 lead into the intermission.
After the break, things went back to being extremely tight with the Patriots unable to extend their lead beyond two possessions. The Dustdevils cut the deficit to 45-44 with 11 minutes left. However, that would be as close as they would get as DBU went on a 24-6 run to go up 70-50. They eventually took the victory 74-55.
