LAREDO, Texas -Â Texas A&M International baseball (5-13, 5-13 LSC) dropped the series finale to Lubbock Christian (6-12, 6-12 LSC) on Sunday.
The Chaps got on the board first with a run scoring on a wild pitch in the second inning for an early 1-0 lead.
Both pitching staffs worked scoreless frames in the third and fourth.
TAMIU tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth, as Luis Flores scored on a Jerry Villareal RBI single to center.
LCU broke the game open in the sixth, scoring seven unearned runs with two outs to take an 8-1 lead. Two runs scored on a two RBI single to left. A bases clearing, three RBI triple down the left line put the Chaps up 6-1. Another run scored on a RBI single through the left side of the infield, with the final run scoring on a RBI single to left.Â
The Dustdevils cut into the deficit 8-3 with two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Paris Johnson scored on an error by the pitcher, while Isaac Gonzalez came home on an Anthony Handel RBI groundout to third.
LCU's Shandon Herrera (1-3) earned the win in the decision. TAMIU's Joseph Garza-Delapena (0-4) took the loss.
The Dustdevils will be back in action on Friday, March 6 as they travel to Canyon, Texas for a four-game series against West Texas A&M.
