CANYON, Texas - Texas A&M International baseball (5-17, 5-17 LSC) fell 6-2 in the series finale to West Texas A&M (17-5, 17-5 LSC) on Sunday.
The Buffaloes got things started in the first inning with an early 2-0 lead. A solo homer to left scored the first run of the game, with an RBI double to center scoring the other run.
Both pitching staffs settled in and worked three scoreless frames in the second, third and fourth innings.
The Dustdevils pulled within one run at 2-1 in the fifth inning. Hunter Trinidad crossed home on an RBI sacrifice bunt from Ariben Gutierrez. They tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth, as Jerry Villareal drove in Andrew Holsey with an RBI single to left center.
WT responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning, and pushed back out to a 4-2 lead. Both runs scored on a two-run shot over the right field wall. The Buffs tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 6-2 victory with a two RBI double down the left field line.
WT's Todd Danzeisen (4-0) earned the win in the decision. TAMIU's Joseph Garza-Delapena (0-5) took the loss.
The Dustdevils will be back in action on Friday, March 13 as they return home to host St. Edward's in a four-game set.
