St. Louis's Golden Hat Trick Lifts Dustdevils Past Greyhounds In Overtime 3-2

LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International women's soccer sophomore Krysan St. Louis put together a career performance, netting a hat trick and scoring the golden goal to give the Dustdevils (2-10-1, 1-6-1 LSC) a 3-2 overtime victory over Eastern New Mexico (2-9-1, 0-6-1 LSC).
 
The first half was all Greyhounds on the scoreboard. After over 35 minutes of a stalemate, Eastern New Mexico found the net twice in a 1:04 span to take a 2-0 lead. The first goal came at 36:49 and the second at 37:53.
 
TAMIU didn't allow the deficit to deter it, scoring two goals in 6:20 of its own. At 54:49 St. Louis netted her first goal of the afternoon and then followed with her second at 61:09.
 
As the first overtime period was winding down, the Dustdevils found an opening in the Greyhouds defense, and St. Louis netted the hat trick with 51 seconds remaining in the period to seal the victory.
 
St. Louis led TAMIU taking four shots and all three on goal entering the back of the net, while junior Vivian Martinez also took four shots and assisted the game winner. Senior's Valeria Macias and Tritch Ann Grant both had three shots, with Macias placing two on goal and Grant just one, while assisting St. Louis on the second goal.
 
Freshman Lizzy Jonker got the start in net for the Dustdevils, facing two shots that both were successful against her. Sophomore goalkeeper Fabiana Solano entered in the second half and stopped all three shots on goal.
 
TAMIU outshot Eastern New Mexico 15-12 on the afternoon, 6-5 in shots on goal and had eight corner kicks to none for the Greyhounds.
 
The Dustdevils get an extended break as they don't return to the pitch until next Saturday, Oct. 23, when the host Oklahoma Christian. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
