LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International women's basketball matched the best start in program history, defeating the Angelo State Rambelles 98-67 in non-conference action.

The Dustdevils (5-0, 0-0 LSC) were again lights out shooting in the first quarter, holding a 27-15 lead after the opening 10 minutes, behind 63.6% shooting (7-for-11) from the floor and 3-for-4 from three.

The Rambelles (0-7, 0-0 LSC) took the second quarter 19-15 to trim the deficit to just eight points at the half, 42-34 after the TAMIU lead had reached 15 points in the frame.

After the half, the Dustdevils went on a shooting spree in the third quarter, racking up 32 points on 70% shooting (14-for-20) to expand their lead to 74-52. TAMIU used a 9-0 run in the stanza from 6:27-5:10 to reopen the double-digit lead.

In the fourth quarter, the Dustdevils kept the peddle down and outscored Angelo State 24-15, shooting 56% (9-for-16) from the floor to take the game 98-67.

The Dustdevils finished the game shooting an outstanding 58.7% (37-63) from the floor, 37.5% from three and 18-for-26 from the free throw line.

The Rambelles were just a shade under 45% at 44.6% on 29-for-65 shooting, but were just 2-for-12 from three and made seven of 11 from the charity stripe.

TAMIU had only two players in double figures on the night and nine of the ten players to hit the floor scored.

Sophomore
Rai Brown had a memorable early season performance, scoring 32 points on 14-for-19 shooting to go along with seven rebounds. Brown came just five points short of tying the program record for points in a game (37).

Freshman
Evelyn Quiroz added 18 points on 6-for-9 shooting, three rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Sophomore
Clara Fernandez had nine points, four rebounds and four assists and fellow sophomore
Emily Swiercz also had nine points, five assists and four steals. Graduate transfer
Lena Yoonis also had nine points to go with five rebounds and two blocks.

Senior
Eva Langton had eight points, six assists and four steals, while freshman
Audry Hornaday was all over the stat sheet with five points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Dustdevils look to make it a program best start of 6-0 against UT Permian Basin on Saturday, Dec. 4. Opening tip from the TAMIU KCB is scheduled for 1 p.m.
