LAREDO, Texas- On Thursday night the TAMIU Dustdevil soccer team hosted their season home opener against South Dakota Mines and walked away victorious, 3-2 after the 90 minute contest.
The win on the night captured the first win of the season for the Dustdevils as they head in to a much anticipated home matchup with perennial D2 power Palm Beach Atlantic at home on Saturady.
Virtually all 90 minutes of the match were controlled by the Dustdevils with South Dakota Mines capitalizing on two defensive miscues to score twice on the night. Outside of those two miscues, the Dustdevils controlled virtually every part of the contest both statistically and momentum throughout the night. TAMIU outshot SDSM 9-3 on goal shots during the night and maintained constant pressure in SDSM territory all contest.
Kristian Colaci led the Dustdevils with two goals on the night (4), with
Johan Portales scoring the other goal (1) for TAMIU.
Jacob Restrepo and
Sammy Mould chipped in assist.
The Dustdevils will look to even their season record at home against PBA on Saturday night at 7 PM.
