TAMIU Draws For Third Time In Conference, 1-1 Against Midwestern State

LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International women's soccer battled to its third draw in conference play, matching Midwestern State, 1-1.
 
TAMIU (3-5-3, 0-3-3 LSC) had a strong first have, that allowed it to hold a 1-0 edge at the half.
 
Junior Marta Forne scored her second goal of the season at 25:09, capitalizing on a header after a crisp corner kick by redshirt sophomore Andrea Castellanos who picked up the assist.
 
The Dustdevils outshot the Mustangs (4-5-1, 1-3-1 LSC) 7-3 in that first half.
 
Both teams had chances in the second half, as the shot total was even at 8-8, but it was Midwestern State at 56:25 scoring the equalizer.
 
TAMIU had a number of chances, taking 15 shots in the game and putting nine on target. On the other side, the Mustangs had 11 shots and seven on goal.
 
Castellanos and junior Krysan St. Louis led the team with three shots, with all of Castellanos' shots on goal and two for St. Louis.
 
Goalkeeper Fabiana Solano was strong in goal, stopping six of the seven shots that came her way.
 
The Dustdevils stay home and welcome St. Mary's on Professor Appreciation Day, with kickoff at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
