Dustdevils Pick Up Point In 0-0 Draw Against Buffs

CANYON, Texas – Texas A&M International men's soccer picked up a very important point in Lone Star Conference play, tying West Texas A&M, 0-0.

The first half was even, as the Buffs (3-2-6, 1-0-2 LSC) held a slim 7-5 lead in the shot department, but both teams had four on target with the keepers making all the stops.

TAMIU (2-5-5, 0-2-1 LSC) had some offensive chances in the second half, taking seven shots and getting five on the cage. However, West Texas A&M had 16 second half shots and nine shots on goal.

The overall total for shots was 23-12 in favor of the Buffs and 13-9 in shots on goal, also in favor of West Texas A&M.

Junior Lassana Diakite led the team with four shots, all of which were on goal, which also led the team.

Junior goalkeeper Robin Verhoeven was incredible in net, stopping all 13 shots that came his way to keep the shutout intact and pick up his fourth clean sheet of the season.

The Dustdevils return home and will look to pick up their first LSC win, hosting Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. as TAMIU hold Ernst Feisner Memorial Night, to honor the life of former Head Athletic Trainer, Ernst Feisner.
