Box Score BAYAMON, Puerto Rico – Texas A&M International women's basketball shot a program record 60.7% in another dominating 89-44 victory over Puerto Rico-Bayamon.

TAMIU (7-4, 1-3 LSC) was in the lead immediately and never look back, as the game was tied for 1:07 seconds of the 40 total minutes.
Through the first quarter, the Dustdevils opened a 22-9 lead and the exploded in the second quarter to the tune of 13-for-19 (68.4%) shooting from the floor to outscore UPR-Bayamon 33-12 in the second to lead 55-21 at the half.
In the first half, the Dustdevils shot 70% (21-for-30) from the floor, 7-for-11 (63.6%) from deep and 6-for-7 from the foul line.
TAMIU continued to grow its lead in the second half, outscoring UPR-Bayamon 18-11 in the third to lead 73-32 and then 16-12 in the fourth for the 89-44 win.

For the game, the Dustdevils broke a near 16-year-old record for shooting percentage in a game, going 34-for-56 from the floor (60.7%). The previous record was established on January 23, 2006, when TAMIU shot 59.1% from the field against Jarvis College.
The Dustdevils shot 10-for-21 (47.6%) from deep, and the free-throw line was strong, making 11 of 13 attempts. TAMIU outrebounded UPR-Mayaguez 26-19 and assisted on 22 of 34 baskets.

On the other side, UPR-Bayamon shot just 36.2% (17-for-47) from the field, 1-for-10 (10%) from three and were just 9-for-15, while turning the ball over 33 times.

This time around it was freshman
Meli Hornedo who led the way for the Dustdevils offensively with 16 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the floor and 3-for-5 from three.

Marija Bakic followed with 14 points, while sophomore
Evelyn Quiroz put together a 12-point, four rebound, three assist, three steal performance.
Junior
Rai Brown was the fourth player in double figures with 11 points and fellow junior
Emily Swiercz filled the sheet with eight points, two rebounds, four assists and three steals.
