AUSTIN, Texas – Texas A&M International men's basketball fell behind quickly in an 88-72 loss in its return to action on Friday.

St. Edward's (11-3, 5-0 LSC) jumped ahead right away, opening the contest on a 14-4 run and continued to lead, with TAMIU (8-5, 1-4 LSC) coming back to cut it to three, 24-21.

The Hilltoppers would go on to outscore the Dustdevils 21-8 the remainder of the way to lead 45-29 at the break.

Out of halftime, the Dustdevils would fall behind farther, but chipped their way back to the halftime deficit by the end of the contest.

For the game, TAMIU still finished the night going 26-for-56 (46.4%) from the floor, but were just 3-for-13 from three. From the foul line, the Dustdevils capitalized on 17 of 21 attempts.

On the other side, St. Edward's finished 32-for-60 (53.3%) from the field, and 11-for-23 (47.8%) from deep, while going 13-for-20 from the foul line.

The Dustdevils were led offensively by senior
Jermaine Drewey who scored 19 points along with five rebounds.

Tiras Morton was the only other Dustdevil in double figures, scoring 10 points with nine rebounds.
