LAREDO, Texas –Texas A&M International men's basketball took #3 Lubbock Christian to the brink of a second consecutive defeat, but the Chaparells pulled through to defeat the Dustdevils 76-68.
TAMIU (11-9, 3-6 LSC) jumped ahead early, opening the game on a 10-2 run over the first 3:45.
The Dustdevils held the lead until 12:41 remaining when the Chaps (21-1, 9-1 LSC) took a 15-14 lead.
LCU held the edge and grew it to as many as five before TAMIU would tie the game 26-26, where the teams alternated baskets until the Chaps gained the lead late in the half and took a 40-37 lead into the break.
After trading baskets in the opening minute of the second half and the score sitting 42-39 in favor of LCU, the Dustdevils would use a 12-2 run to open a 51-44 lead with 14:08 remaining.
TAMIU would hold the lead 56-55 halfway through, but once the Chaps took a 57-56 lead with 8:47 remaining, they never allowed the Dustdevils to tie or take the lead again, sealing the victory.
In the loss, TAMIU shot 26-for-55 (47.3%) from the floor, 7-for-16 (43.8%) from behind the arc and 9-for-11 from the free-throw line.
On the other end, LCU shot 52%, going 26-for-50 and also shot 7-for-16 (43.8%) from deep, but made it to the free-throw line enough to go 17-for-20.

Greg Bowie II had a career day as a Dustdevil, scoring 33 points on 12-for-20 shooting from the floor and 5-for-8 from deep.

Tiras Morton chipped in eight points to go alongside 15 rebounds and two blocks.
