FRISCO, Texas – In the Texas A&M International women's basketball's first trip to the Comerica Center in Frisco for the Quarterfinals of the Lone Star Conference Tournament, the Dustdevils met top seeded West Texas A&M and in the end it was the Lady Buffs coming out victorious, 75-56.

TAMIU (18-11, 8-8 LSC) held the edge early in the first quarter, 7-4, but after that, West Texas A&M excercied a 24-0 run to open a 28-7 lead in the second quarter.

As time went on, the Dustdevils fought to cut the deficit, but still trailed 38-20 at the half.

Out of the locker room, TAMIU continued to fight back, cutting the deficit to 44-33, but they were unable to pull any closer.

For the game, the Dustdevils shot 30.5% (18-for-59) from the floor and 6-for-19 (31.6%) from deep and capitalized on 14 of 19 free-throws.

On the other side, the Lady Buffs finished 28-for-64 (43.8%) from the floor and 11-for-30 (36.7%) from behind the arc and 8-for-11 at the charity stripe.

Freshman
Evelyn Quiroz led TAMIU with a 17 point, six rebound and two steal performance.

Sophomore
Rai Brown scored 10 points with six rebounds, while fellow sophomores
Emily Swiercz and
Clara Fernandez both chipped in nine points each.

It was another great season for the maroon and silver, as the Dustdevils set a program benchmark for best regular season home record at 13-2, as well as winning the first postseason game since the program joined NCAA Division II.
