CANYON, Texas – Texas A&M International baseball fell behind to open the series against #5 West Texas A&M, falling to the Buffaloes 14-3 on Thursday night.

West Texas A&M jumped ahead early, scoring three in the bottom of the first, then followed that with 10 runs in the bottom of the second to take a 13-0 lead early.

TAMIU cut the deficit to 10-2 in the top of the third inning, plating a pair of runs on a two RBI double by junior
Matt Kissamis.

The Buffaloes added one more run in the bottom of the fifth to take a 14-2 edge.

The Dustdevils plated the final run of the game in the top of the seventh, as senior
Brock Hargens drew a bases loaded walk to make it 14-3.

Senior
Andrew Pavon made his first start of the season and first start since Feb. 8, 2020, and went 1.1 innings, allowing nine runs, seven hits, one walk and one strikeout.

Sophomore
Andrew Delgadillo worked just 1/3 inning, allowing four runs and five hits.

Freshman
Tristan Cavazos Reichwald worked 2.2 innings and gave up one run, one hit, two walks and fanned three.

Fellow freshman
Emilio Duque worked the remaining 1.2 innings and allowed two hits and struck out three.

TAMIU had eight hits offensively, with the top three in the order securing them all. Junior
Isaac Gonzalez finished 2-for-4, senior
Ronnie Bailey went 3-for-4 and Kissamis was 3-for-3.
