DENTON, Texas – Texas A&M International softball entered its final road trip playing must win games and while things started on a positive with a 4-0 victory in game one over Texas Woman's, things took a turn in game two and the Dustdevils fell 10-3.

TAMIU had to wait until the third inning to crack the scoreboard, when junior
Briana Arredondo drove in a run on a fielder's choice, and on the same play, a second run came across to give the Dustdevils a 2-0 edge.

In the top of the fourth, sophomore
Victoria Gonzalez belted a solo home run to make it 3-0 and then in the seventh, Arredondo tripled in sophomore
Mikaila Vidal to make the score its 4-0 final.

Junior
Darrian Smith was lights out in the circle, allowing just two hits, one walk and struck out eight in the complete game effort.

Offensively, TAMIU collected eight hits, with freshman
Alex Hernandez leading the charge, going 3-for-3 from the leadoff spot.
Game 2: Texas Woman's 10 Texas A&M International 3
The Dustdevils jumped ahead right away in game two, with RBI singles from Arredondo and Gonzalez to give TAMIU a 2-0 lead.

The Pioneers would score the next four runs, with one in the bottom of the first and three in the bottom of the second to lead 4-2.

The Dustdevils trimmed the deficit to 4-3 in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Hernandez, but Texas Woman's responded yet again.

The Pioneers would up its lead to 8-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning, plating four runs, before making the score 9-3 with a run in the bottom of the fifth. They added one more in the sixth to make it 10-3.

TAMIU battled in the seventh inning, despite the deficit, loading the bases, but were unable to push a run across.

Freshman
Sara Papizan got the start and allowed three runs, three hits, two walks and a strikeout in 1.1 innings.

Fellow freshman
Carla Arellano worked 1.2 innings, allowing one run, one hit, two walks and one strikeout.
Â
Gonzalez worked the final three innings, allowing six runs, six hits, five walks and fanned one.
Â
TAMIU scattered seven hits offensively, with seven different players collecting a single hit.

The Dustdevils, currently sit one game out of the final spot to make the LSC Tournament with four games left and need a sweep to help their cause, as they meet Midwestern State for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 23 beginning at 4 p.m.
