Box Score LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International women's basketball saw its six-game win streak end at the hands of UAFS on Saturday, 57-53.
Scoring was limited on both ends throughout the game, except for the fourth quarter by the Lions.
In the first, TAMIU (11-5, 4-4 LSC) held the edge at 13-8 over the opening 10 minutes, behind an 8-2 run over the final five minutes.
In the second, UAFS (4-11, 2-7 LSC) slightly chipped away, outscoring the Dustdevils 14-12 to take a 25-22 deficit into halftime.
Out of the break, TAMIU saw the game tied at 25-25, but used a 6-0 run to gain the lead and with 44 seconds left, led by as many as 11, and 42-32 at the end of three.
The fourth quarter was all Lions, as they opened the final frame with a 13-1 run to toke a 45-43 lead, and while the Dustdevils tied the game two times after that, UAFS would open a seven-point lead to eventually seal the victory.
For the game, TAMIU shot 34% (17-for-50) from the floor but were 3-for-23 (13%) from behind the arc. The Dustdevils would hit 16 of 24 attempts from the free throw line.
On the other side, the Lions shot 37% (20-for-54) from the field, 6-for-25 (24%) from three and made 11 of 15 from the charity stripe.

Rai Brown again led TAMIU offensively with 21 points to go alongside six rebounds, one block and a steal.
Junior
Emily Swiercz followed with 17 points, three rebounds and three steals, while fellow junior
Marija Bakic filled the stat sheet with nine points, 12 rebounds and four assists.
The Dustdevils continue the home stretch on Thursday, Jan. 12 when they host UT Tyler for a 6 p.m. tip inside the KCB.
