Laredo, Texas – Texas A&M International men's basketball won 90-48 over Southwestern Adventist in its home opener on Tuesday after forcing 25 turnovers and outrebounding the Knights 37-16.
The Knights (1-2) held with the Dustdevils (2-1) through the first nine minutes and only trailed 10-8, but TAMIU finished the half on a 29-12 run.
The second half was all TAMIU's as they dropped 51 points and only allowed 28.
Garrett Falls led the Dustdevils in scoring with 16, John Achebe added 13 and Emaniel Alexandre tallied 12. Falls shot 6 of 9 from the field and 3 of 5 from behind the arc.
Mike Rivera grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and Olaveer Camacho dished out five assists.
As a team, the Dustdevils shot 35 of 68 from the field and 10 of 31 from 3. They shot 10 of 14 from the line.
The Knights shot 19 of 44 from the field and 0 of 6 from 3-point. They shot 10 of 12 from the charity stripe.
TAMIU will be in action next at 7 p.m. at Western Colorado.
