TAMIU Falls to Lubbock Christian

Lubbock, Texas – Texas A&M International men's basketball fell to Lubbock Christian 83-70 on the road on Sunday after being outscored 39-29 in the second half.

The Chapparals (7-3, 3-0 LSC) started the game on a 9-5 run over the first five minutes. By the halfway point of the first half LCU had extended its lead to 24-14.

The Dustdevils (5-4, 1-2 LSC) went on a 13-10 run over the next five minutes, capped by a dunk from Garrett Falls to cut the lead to 34-27.

TAMIU closed the final five minutes of the first half on a 17-7 run, closing the half on a traditional three-point play from Matthew Okoye, closing the gap to 44-41.

The Chaps opened the second half on a 10-2 run to extend their lead to 51-43.

The Dustdevils fought to get back into the game and went on a 7-6 run over the next five minutes, ending in a layup from Jaylen Thompson to make the second 56-50.

LCU found its offense once again and went on a 16-9 run to take a 72-59 lead with just five minutes left in the game.

Both teams scored 11 points in the final five minutes.

Thompson led TAMIU in scoring with 18 points and Okoye added 14 with Emaniel Alexandre and Jeremiah Washington scoring nine each. Thompson also grabbed a team-high six rebounds and dished out three assists.

TAMIU finished with 15 second-chance points compared to just three for the Chaps. TAMIU also outscored LCU in bench points, 30-11.

The Dustdevils will be in action next at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at West Texas A&M.
