SAN ANGELO, Texas – Texas A&M International softball concluded its time at the George & Ola McCormick Challenge on Sunday against host Angelo State, falling to the Rambelles 3-0.
 
Angelo State (8-3, 0-0 LSC) jumped ahead right away in the top of the first, scoring two runs to lead 2-0.
 
The Dustdevils (4-7, 0-0 LSC) got their first and only runner in scoring position in the top of the fifth inning, but she was left stranded at second base.
 
The Rambelles would tack on their final run in the bottom of the fifth, to ake the score its eventual final of 3-0.
Sophomore 
Carla Arellano got the start in despite taking the loss was efficient in her four innings, allowing two runs, seven hits and struck out one.
 
Senior 
Darrian Smith closed the game and in two innings allowed one run, three hits and walked two.
 
Offensively, the Dustdevils collected five hits, with five different players all collecting one each.
 
TAMIU now prepares to enter conference play and does so with its first home games of the season. Midwestern State comes to Laredo to begin a three-game series beginning Friday, Feb. 17. First pitch for Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 12:10 p.m.
