Rapid City, S.D. - The TAMIU Men's Soccer team clashed with South Dakota Schools of Mines & Technology (SDSM&T) in a battle that led to a 2-1 victory for the Dustdevils.
The scoring action commenced at the 24:33 mark when TAMIU's
Jordan Mase showcased his talents with a well-executed goal, assisted by
Lassana Diakite. This early lead provided a boost of confidence for TAMIU and set the tone for the rest of the contest.
As the game progressed, SDSM&T fought back and they managed to level the score with a goal from Will Mauritsen at 45:27.
The match continued to be tightly contested, with both teams eager to secure the win. In the 87th minute,
Jordan Mase once again rose to the occasion, scoring his second goal of the match.
Yahir Gallardo provided the crucial assist, helping TAMIU take the lead and the ultimate victory.
Statistically, TAMIU dominated with 19 shots, 8 of which were on target, compared to SDSMT's 8 shots, with 6 on target. Both teams exhibited strong defensive efforts, with the goalkeepers making crucial saves. TAMIU also excelled in corner kicks, securing 10 to SDSMT's 4.
TAMIU returns home to face Sul Ross State on September 15 at 1pm at the Dustdevil Soccer Field.
