Laredo, Texas- Wednesday night was nothing short of great soccer being played in one of the most competitive conferences in Division II athletics. The Dustdevils 2-5-2 on the season took on LCU who is 4-3-3 on the season.
It was an offensive heavy game as both teams were trying to capture a conference win in order to keep climbing the ladder in the conference polls. In the first half alone, there was 16 total shots attempted between the two teams. TAMIU finished the game with 18 shots and ten on goal. LCU finished the game with 14 shots and 12 on goal.
Two goals were scored in the first half.
Dereck Espinal gave a quick start to the Dustdevils, scoring in the 9
th minute to put the Dustdevils up 1-nil. This was his fourth goal on the year. The Chaps were quick to answer back as Geoffroy Letienne scored off a penalty quick in the 19
th minute. The Chaps continued to dominate in possession and tallied another goal in the 31
st minute by Justin Martinez. However, TAMIU was not going to back down as
Inaki Solabarrieta scored in the 35
th minute. At the end of the first half, the score was tied 2-2.
The second half was much of the same offensive intensity as the first. The Chaps were the first to strike as Justin Martinez score another goal on the night in the 65
th minute and then again in the 71
st minute as Francisco Horta scored for the Chaps.
Byron Aguilar was able to answer back for the Dustdevils, scoring in the 81
st minute for TAMIU. With nine minutes left, the score was 3-4 but unfortunately the Dustdevils could not find the back of the net again before the time expired as the Chaps took home the victory. The Chaps prevailed 4-3 over the Dustdevils.

th at 7:00 PM against Eastern New Mexico University.
