Laredo, Texas - On October 22, 2024, TAMIU transformed into a superhero showdown with its vibrant Maroon Madness event, themed around fan-favorite characters Deadpool and Wolverine. The night kicked off with the much-anticipated introduction of both the men's and women's basketball teams, energizing the crowd and setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.

The competition heated up with a lively dance-off, where Angie and Alyssia from the women's basketball team showcased their impressive moves and took home the victory. Not to be outdone, Esteban and Bahar clinched the skills competition, proving their prowess on the court.

In a thrilling showcase of shooting skills, the men's basketball team emerged victorious in the three-point contest, further heightening the excitement among fans.

Throughout the night, attendees were treated to a variety of prize giveaways. Lucky winners included Angelina Inocencio, who won a Pop-Up Theater Kit; Keyla Rodriguez, who took home a Vizio Sound Bar; Alana Garcia, who snagged a Backpack Cooler; Jorge Flores, who received headphones; Marco Medina, who won an Electric Scooter; and Joseph Cruz, who walked away with a Nintendo Switch.

The highlight of the evening was the "Free Tuition Game," featuring the engaging Basketball Layup Musical Chairs. Andy Rodriguez, a senior biology major, triumphed in this challenge, earning a free tuition for the Spring 2025 semester.
