Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Historical Night As Dustdevils Take Down Lobos

Laredo, Texas- It was senior and alumni night at the KCB gymnasium as the Texas A&M International Dustdevils took on the Sul Ross State Lobos in Friday night volleyball action. This would be the last game of the season for both teams.

There was a special presentation presented at the game. Two members of TAMIU volleyball were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments on the court and the history they will have left at TAMIU once their career is completed. The award presentation was given by Director of Athletics Griz Zimmermann and the TAMIU volleyball coaches.
Tonight was a very special night as it was senior night for TAMIU volleyball. The first individual honored was Lixai Perez. Lixai was escorted tonight by Antonio Buentello. Lixai entered a very special club tonight as well, as she has became a member of the 2,000 digs club. Lixai is number seven all time in individual season leaders for digs. Even more remarkably, Lixai will finish her career as the all-time dig's leader in TAMIU history.

Emma Lade was also recognized for a major milestone. Emma Lade was escorted today by her Mother Margaret Lade. Emma just recently clinched the 2,000 assists club. However, tonight she joined another spectacular club, the 3,000 assists club only as a Junior. As a Junior, Emma is already the second all-time assists leader in TAMIU history.

TAMIU volleyball took the momentum of the special presentations and carried it forward against the Lobos. The Dustdevils ended up sweeping the Lobos first (25-17), second (25-19), and the third (25-23). TAMIU finished the night with 44 kills, five aces, nine blocks, 38 assists and 48 digs. Mia Molina led the Dustdevils with 14 kills, Emma Lade led the Dustdevils in assists with 34, Lixai Perez led the team in digs with 12 along with Mia Perez (12), and Abby Buenrostro led the team in both blocks (5) and aces (2).

The Dustdevil finish their season 9-16 overall and 6-10 in the Lone Star Conference. The Dustdevils end their season 12th in the conference.
