Lawton, OK – TAMIU emerged victorious with a final score of 8-3, in game 1 of the series with Cameron on Friday afternoon in Lawton, OK.
TAMIU took an early lead in the second inning with
Ariben Gutierrez drawing a walk, contributing to an unearned run for
Nick Chavez.
Abiam Medina then followed with a crucial single, bringing in two more runs, establishing TAMIU's 3-0 lead. The Dustdevils continued their offense in the 3rd inning, with
Nomar Prieto's double bringing in two more runs.
Isaac Stanwick and
Abiam Medina added singles, extending TAMIU's lead to 8-0. Cameron responded in the bottom of the 3rd with Lance Barnett's RBI and a run by Donovan Borg, narrowing the deficit to 8-1. In the 6th inning, Cameron made a late-game push with Drew Durst's home run and Hunter Smith reaching on an error, scoring an unearned run. Despite Cameron's efforts, TAMIU maintained their lead.
