Dustdevils Split Doubleheader with #25 Patriots

Game 1

Tyler, Texas - The Dustdevils were the victors in game 2, with a final score of 6-5 against the #25 Patriots of UT Tyler. 

The Patriots took an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning, with Atkinson's double down the left-field line bringing in Clark, followed by Bedgood's groundout that allowed Atkinson to score, putting UT Tyler up, 2-0.

The momentum continued for UT Tyler in the third inning, with Bedgood's single up the middle bringing in two more runs, extending their lead to 4-0. Ochoa's subsequent groundout added another run, making it 5-0. However, the Dustdevils showed resilience in the fifth inning when Cruz's sacrifice fly brought in Stanwick, putting them on the scoreboard at 1-5.
The real turning point came in the seventh inning when TAMIU orchestrated an impressive comeback. Medina's single through the right side brought in a run, followed by Cruz's sacrifice fly, closing the gap to 3-5. Cervantes then delivered a crucial double down the left-field line, bringing in two more runs and tying the game at 5-5. The Dustdevils weren't done yet, as Prieto's single up the middle brought in the go-ahead run, capping off a remarkable five-run inning and putting them in the lead at 6-5.

The Dustdevils held on to their lead in the remaining innings, securing a hard-fought victory against the Patriots. Salinas, the winning pitcher for the Dustdevils, pitched four innings without conceding a run.

The game featured standout performances, with Gutierrez, Medina, and Stanwick making significant contributions for the Dustdevils. Gutierrez demonstrated his skill with a double, while Medina's timely hit and Stanwick's runs showcased their offensive capabilities. On the defensive end, the Dustdevils exhibited solid teamwork, overcoming an early deficit to secure the win.

Game 2

In a closely contested game 3 UT Tyler emerged as the victors in a 7-6 nail-biter.

UT Tyler took an early lead in the first inning, with Bedgood's single up the middle bringing in Clark, putting them ahead 1-0. The Dustdevils responded strongly in the second inning, as Benitez's single to left field brought in two runs, giving TAMIU a 2-1 lead.

The Patriots reclaimed the lead in the third inning, with Mason's home run to left field scoring three runs, making it 4-2. They extended their lead in the fourth inning when Hutchinso doubled to left field, bringing in another run and making it 5-2. The Dustdevils fought back in the sixth inning, with Gonzalez and Prieto contributing key hits, closing the gap to 5-4.
In the seventh inning, both teams added to their scores, with the Dustdevils tying the game at 6-6. A. Gutierrez's sacrifice fly brought in a run, followed by Cruz's single down the left-field line, bringing in another run. However, the Patriots had a decisive response in the bottom of the seventh, with Ardoin's sacrifice fly bringing in the winning run, securing a 7-6 victory.
 
Medina and Stanwick each contributing crucial hits in the game. Despite their efforts, UT Tyler's Adair emerged as the winning pitcher, making a significant impact in the later innings. Jan Cabrera got the took the loss for the Dustdevils.

The Dustdevils and Patriots will face off in the series finale on Sunday, March 3 at 1 p.m.
