Frisco, Texas – The #7 Dustdevils (18-12) continued post season play in the semifinal matchup on Saturday afternoon, which culminated in a heartbreaking 48-50 loss to #3 Lubbock Christian (23-9).
The Dustdevils took command early in the first half, getting up to an 8 point lead with with 13:10 left in the first half. LCU fought back to tie it at 11 apiece, but TAMIU extended the lead again and took a 26-14 lead into the locker room at the half. TAMIU shot 9-27 (33%) from the field and 2-9 (22%) from three-point range in the first half.

Jaylen Thompson led TAMIU's offense, both with 8 first-half points.
The Dustdevils held LCU to just 14 first half points on 4-21(19%) shooting from the field and 13% (1-8) from beyond the arc in the first half.
After a first half controlled by the Dustdevils, the Chaps mounted a comeback late in the second half to shrink the Dustdevil lead to just 1 with 1:58 left to play. The Chaps took their first lead of the game with 1:06 on the clock. TAMIU had the last possession, but couldn't connect, ultimately falling to the Chap, 48-50. In the second half, TAMIU went 8-24 (33.3%) from the field and 2-9 (22.2%) from beyond the arc compared to LCU's 12-24 (50%) from the field and 5-9 (55.6%) from three-point range.
John Achebe led the Dustdevils with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals, while
Jaylen Thompson contributed a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
LCU's Kurt Wegscheider led the Chaps with 13 points and 7 rebounds.
With the loss, the Dustdevil's tournament run and season come to a heartbreaking end, but not before making history by making it to the semifinal game in the program's debut performance in the LSC tournament.
