Box Score Laredo, Texas- The Texas A&M International Dustdevils were back at home on Saturday as they took on the Lubbock Christian University Chaps. Both of the teams were coming off a loss against a tough University of Texas Permian Basin volleyball team and they were looking to get back on the right track.
Leading into the match, the Dustdevils started off strong. The Dustdevils finished the first set (25-23) but the Chaps stormed back to take the second set (25-18). The Dustdevils rallied and took set three (25-20) only to have the Chaps come back to take the fourth set (25-22). As the anticipation grew at the KCB gymnasium, it turned out to be all TAMIU in the 5
th set (15-9) as they took down the Chaps in five sets at home.
TAMIU finished the match with 75 kills, three aces, five blocks, 61 assists and 73 digs.
Aryana Ledet had a standout game for the Dustdevils. Ledet finished the game with 21 kills (match high) and two blocks. Her energy was contagious as Ledet had numerous offensive sets that helped tilt things in favor of TAMIU.
Emma Lade had 53 assists and two blocks on the evening.
Anna Ligart also had a huge night as she finished with 15 kills and eight digs.
Mia Molina had 12 kills on the evening.
Lixai Perez had 20 digs, three assists and one ace on the evening.
Marianna Gamboa finished the night with 13 digs to help the Dustdevils over the Chaps.
Coach Tammie Jimenez had the following to say about her team,
"We earned the win today, and we will be proud of that. We know we still need to find our groove with consistency and to work towards eliminating unforced errors. I am proud of the team for pulling together to finish strong."
