Men's Soccer Falls Short In First Game Of The Season

It was a tough day on the pitch for the Men's soccer team as they fell 2-0 against Mississippi college. It was the first match of the year for the Dustdevils.
The Dustdevils started off the game trying to shake off the summer rust as they had six total shots in the first period, three of which were on goal. The Dustdevils did have a few opportunities with five corners but they could not convert. The Choctaws came out in full swing as they converted two of their six shots on goal in the first half. The Choctaws took the lead going up 2-0 right before heading into the locker room. Both the Dustdevils and Choctaws finished the second half scoreless with 25 total shots between the two teams. Finishing the game with a score 2-0 in favor of the Mississippi College Choctaws.
Nicklas Berg-Ericksen had quite the debut for the Dustdevils in the first game of the season. The goalkeeper had six saves against the Choctaws. Jayce Dotson and Lewis Matton both had one goal each for the Choctaws respectively.

Claudio Arias had the following to say about the debut of his soccer team,
"It wasn't our best day in the office. We will correct the mistakes. On to the next one."
The men's soccer team will take on Delta State University this Saturday at 10:00 AM in Cleveland, MS.
