Women’s Soccer Ends First Game Of The Year In A Scoreless Draw

San Antonio, Texas-The Dustdevil Women's Soccer team took on the Westminster Griffins Thursday evening in San Antonio, Texas.

It was a scoreless affair however it was an outstanding defensive collegiate debut for Claramalia Pederson. The Griffins had 17 total shots on the night with 10 of them being on goal. The outstanding freshman goalkeeper made 10 saves on the evening. Candela Gonzalez had a shot in the bottom center of the net at the 10th minute mark but unfortunately was saved by Westminster goalkeeper Brooklyn Northcutt.  Gabriela Mendez-Ortiz had a great opportunity open up in the 82nd minute of play in which she lined up a kick on goal to the bottom right side of the net which was just narrowly saved again by Northcutt. The Griffins outshot the Dustdevils 17 to 2 on the night. However, it was the tremendous defensive play by the Dustdevils that allowed them to keep a nil-nil ending.

The Dustdevils will play again against Concordia University on Saturday at 1:00 PM in Austin, Texas.
