Tyler, Texas – Texas A&M International men's soccer fell in a hard-fought 3-2 match against UT Tyler on Wednesday afternoon at the Citizens 1st Bank–Perkins Soccer Complex.
The Dustdevils struck twice in the first half to take a 2-1 lead into halftime. After UT Tyler opened the scoring in the 13th minute,
Kai Louviere equalized for TAMIU in the 26th minute.
Toni Schauer followed up with a go-ahead goal in the 42nd minute, giving the Dustdevils momentum heading into the break.
In the second half, the Patriots converted a penalty kick in the 61st minute to tie the match and later netted the game-winner in the 80th minute. Despite several late chances, TAMIU was unable to find the equalizer.
Felipe Garcia led the Dustdevils with five shots, including three on goal, while goalkeeper
Ioannis Koupepides recorded five saves in the match.
Texas A&M International moves to 3-6-5 overall and 1-5-1 in Lone Star Conference play.
The Dustdevils return home to PEG Energy Stadium in Laredo, Texas, for their next matchup against Oklahoma Christian.
