Richardson, Texas – The Texas A&M International University men's soccer team fell in a 4-3 battle to Texas-Dallas on Saturday afternoon at the UTD Soccer Complex.
The Dustdevils came out strong with back-to-back goals in the opening 10 minutes.
Felipe Garcia struck first in the 8th minute to give TAMIU the early edge, followed shortly by a team goal just two minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Comets responded with a pair of goals before halftime to even things at 2-2. After the break, TAMIU regained the advantage when
Tiziano Klamler found the back of the net in the 65th minute off an assist from
Jonathan Cervantes. UTD, however, scored twice late in the half to take a 4-3 lead and hold on for the win.
Goalkeepers
Nicklas Berg-Eriksen and
Ioannis Koupepides combined for two saves across the 90 minutes.
With the result, TAMIU moves to 3-8-5 overall and 1-7-1 in Lone Star Conference play.
TAMIU closes out the regular season at home on Wednesday, Nov. 5, against DBU. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. at Dustdevil Soccer Field.
