Laredo, Texas – Texas A&M International hustled through the home-opener on Monday night but fell short in a 70-54 loss to Angelo State.
The Dustdevils opened the evening shooting 7-27 from the field, including 4-17 from three, and 3-4 from the free throw line. Angelo State jumped ahead with a 50% shooting rate off of 28 field goals, adding on two 3-pointers in the first half.
TAMIU was able to increase their shooting percentage in the second half with
Caylen Goff Brown as the leading scorer in the game for TAMIU with 23 total points, including six 3-pointers off of 10 attempts; however, Angelo State used 42 points in the paint and 14 bench points to secure the victory.
Peyton Gusters led the way for TAMIU in the backcourt with 10 rebounds, while also scoring 12 points in the game.
