Dustdevils and Aggies Split Doubleheader

Laredo, Texas – The Dustdevils and Aggies continued the first series of the 2025 season with a doubleheader on Saturday. The Aggies took game one by a score of 7-2, but the Dustdevils bounced back in game two with an 11-6 victory.

Game One
The Dustdevils started the scoring early as Abiam Medina scored on an error by the Aggies second baseman in the first inning.

TAMIU extended the lead in the bottom of the third as Joseph Cruz scored on a wild pitch, bringing the score to 2-0 in favor of the Dustdevils.

The Aggies battled back as they scored two runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game. Cameron added five more runs in the top of the seventh, bringing the score to 7-2.

Lalo Salinas started the game on the mound for TAMIU and went 5.1 innings with five strikeouts and three walks. Kamron Snodgrass, David White and Rudy Guardiola all pitched in relief.

Game Two
The Dustdevils scored first again in game two as Haziel Cruz brought in a run with an RBI single.

Cameron answered back with two runs in the third inning to take a 2-1 lead.

TAMIU took the lead back the next inning as Omar Cervantes homered and Issac Stanwick scored on a wild pitch.

The Aggies came back with three runs in the fifth to regain the lead 5-3 over TAMIU.

Nomar Prieto tied the game for the Dustdevils with a 2-run single that brought in Joseph Rodriguez and Medina. Back-to-back bases loaded walks added two more runs for the Dustdevils. David Benitez scored on a wild pitch, and Joseph Cruz capped off an eight-run fifth inning with a three-run homerun.

The Aggies scored one run in the seventh, but that was it as the Dustdevils earned the 11-6 win.

Mario Garcia and Mark Chapa combined for seven strikeouts in the win.

The series concludes Sunday with the Dustdevils looking to secure a series win. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
