Tyler, TX- The Texas A&M International Dustdevils took on the UT-Tyler Patriots in Lone Star Conference action on Saturday. The Dustdevils entered the match up 5-19 overall and 4-14 in the conference. The Patriots entered the day at 23-2 overall and 18-1 in the conference.
The Dustdevils came out to a slow start putting up 11 points in the first quarter while the Patriots showed why they are one of the top teams of the nation putting up 20. TAMIU and UT-Tyler both only scored 11 points in the second quarter which left the Patriots with a lead nine going into halftime. The Dustdevils kept their defensive intensity by only allowing the Patriots to outscore them by two in the third quarter. However, during the fourth quarter the Patriots went back to an offensive show as they put 21 points on the board to the Dustdevils 13. The Patriots took down the Dustdevils 62-43. The Dustdevils were led by
Trinity Chears with 12 points and three steals.
Josie Igherighe led the Dustdevils in rebounds with eight.
The Dustdevils will be back in action against Lubbock Christian at home Thursday at 5:30 PM CDT.
