Alpine, Texas – The Dustdevils finished out its series in Alpine with a bang, putting 26 runs on the board against Sul Ross State.
TAMIU scored six runs in the second, seven in the third and nine runs in the fourth to jump out to an early 22-0 lead.
The Lobos brought in four runs in the home half of the fourth and one more in the fifth, but that would do it for Sul Ross State.
The Dustdevils scored three more in the sixth and one more in seventh bringing its run total to 26.
Eight Dustdevils tallied multi-RBI efforts, led by
Joseph Cruz who plated five.
Joseph Rodriguez,
Omar Cervantes and
Nomar Prieto all tallied three RBI.
Jose Duran started the game on the mound for TAMIU and pitched four innings. Duran allowed four runs on two hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Mark Chapa and
Omar Rodriguez both pitched in relief.
The Dustdevils return to Laredo Feb. 28 for a four-game series against Oklahoma Christian after a midweek matchup at Texas A&M Kingsville on Feb. 26.
